What is a CITB Test?
The CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test is an essential qualification for anyone working in the UK construction industry. Often simply called the "touch screen test," it is designed to ensure that workers have a minimum level of health, safety, and environmental awareness before going on site.
Passing this test is usually a mandatory prerequisite for applying for a CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card. The test is a 45-minute, multiple-choice PC-based exam taken at an approved Pearson VUE test center.

Which Test Do I Need?
There are three main types of CITB HS&E tests depending on your profession and the type of CSCS card you are applying for.
Operatives Test
For labourers, bricklayers, carpenters, and most standard site workers. Required for the Green Labourer Card and Blue Skilled Worker Card.
Specialists Test
For trades with specific hazards like scaffolding, demolition, or HVAC. Contains additional questions tailored to your specific trade.
MAP Test
Managers and Professionals test. Required for Black Manager Cards and certain White Academically Qualified Person Cards.
